Things I Wish Jesus Had Never Said: Part 1

What Jesus said about divorce is hard to hear. Perhaps the hardest parts to hear are not the parts that are hardest to understand, but the ones that are plain. As His followers, we must seek to understand them, seek to be obedient to them, and teach them to one another and to our children. But these words from Jesus are not the only words for us to consider. There are other words that address the issue of divorce: grace (permission to be imperfect and still loved), forgiveness (sought from God and humans and granted to humans), reconciliation (coming to peace and offering peace to your ex), restoration (sometimes God helps humans put broken things back together), redemption (allowing God to use even your sins and failures to shape and change you).
