Dang It, Guys - Pay Attention!

If ever there was a sign that Jesus is God (and there were several), it was the feeding miracles. People have to eat to live, and Jesus gave them more food than they could eat. What did this mean? God gives life, so if Jesus gives life, Jesus is God. Plain and simple. It was a sign from Heaven for sure. The Pharisees heard about it and said, “If you’re the Son of God, give us a sign that can’t be mistaken.” Uh, HE HAD JUST GIVEN THEM 4000 SIGNS, and still they wouldn’t believe! Jesus spoke against asking for and demanding signs for two reasons: (1) it comes from hearts that are resisting instead of trying to believe, and (2) they almost never work— people usually just ask for more signs, evidencing that they still don’t believe. The next day, Jesus told the disciples, “Don’t be like the Pharisees. If you’re not careful, you will.” What is it that He was telling them to guard against? A heart that resists/refuses to believe. Is your heart resisting to believe?
